Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist provides professional human resources services in some or all of the following functional areas: recruitment/employment, affirmative action, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training, performance management, discipline, and compliance. The position is responsible for administrative and compliance activities, managing day-to-day operations, and contributing to HR plans and strategic goals.

Essential Functions:

  1. Facilitates the recruitment and selection process, preparing job postings, scheduling interviews, maintaining applicant flow logs, conducting new employee orientations, completing I-9’s, etc.
  2. Assists in benefits administration and processing, billing, employee education and guidance, and enhancing offerings and utilization.
  3. Assists with the administration of compensation, leave options and Workers’ Compensation.
  4. Oversees the drug and alcohol program and coordinates commercial drivers’ requirements.
  5. Addresses employee relations issues and provides coaching and guidance to employees and management.
  6. Develops and facilitates employee development opportunities.
  7. Develops, recommends, establishes and communicates human resources services, programs and procedures in response to strategic priorities, operational efficiency, and the needs of the company.
  8. Administers the human resource information system, develops reports or queries, and analyzes data to support informed decisions.
  9. Maintains applicant and employee files as dictated by governing agencies and company needs.
  10. Protects the confidentiality of employee information.
  11. Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  12. Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field and four years of relevant HR experience, or eight years of comparable experience in lieu of education requirement.
  2. Previous HRMS/HRIS experience.
  3. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  4. Knowledge of and skill in applying the principles, practices and procedures of human resources administration in the functional areas.
  5. Knowledge and skill in interpreting and applying state and federal statutes and applicable rules and regulations related to the management of human resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. SHRM and/or HRCI professional certification in HR.
  2. Proficiency in using Microsoft applications.
  3. Experience designing and facilitating training and development for adult learners.
  4. Project management/process improvement.
