FPT Cleveland has an opening for a Switcher at its location in Cleveland, OH.
Position Overview:
The Switcher will switch railroad cars between multiple tracks and communicate by two-way radio to locomotive engineers.
Typical Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Ensure that railcars are clean of debris inside and loaded properly.
• Inspect railroad tracks for damage and/or defects.
• Ensure that railroad tracks are clean of debris and weather-related obstructions.
• Throw railroad track switches for staging or railcars.
• Prepare proper paperwork for shipments.
• Inspect railcars for defective parts such as couplings, air hoses, journal boxes, and hand brakes and notify the supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
Minimum Qualifications include:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Good computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Previous experience preferred.
• Must possess superior interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Must have good math skills.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background, physical and substance screening process.
