Job Title: Production Supervisor -- 1st Shift

Due to continued growth, Fischer Paper Products is currently seeking a full-time Production Supervisor – 1st Shift to join our team.   

This position will report to the Manufacturing Manager and will cover a broad base of responsibilities.  In this role, you will oversee machine operators, packers, quality control technicians and other production staff and foster a strong, unified culture of synergy and cross-functional teamwork. 

As we are a growing business, this role will involve change management and building cohesive teams.  We’ve recently expanded and moved into our brand new facility which means you’ll get to help develop people and processes as we get up and running with new equipment and production lines.

This is a dynamic role that will support a variety of efforts across the manufacturing floor all while ensuring team members are in the right spots as needs change throughout the day. Primary areas of focus for this position include:

  • Safety & Quality
    • Conduct safety and orientation training with new employees. Communicate performance expectations, performance needs and safety standards.
    • Oversee and maintain safety practices in accordance with safe operations and in compliance with company policies.
    • Monitor the efficiency and quality of all production jobs.
    • Responsible for Food Safety through compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
  • Productivity
    • Plan and execute the production schedule; prioritizing and allocating resources and workloads to prioritize minimal downtime and timely completion of company and customer objectives.
    • Assist in running and troubleshooting production jobs; acting as a technical resource and assessing and resolving any problems.
    • Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures and plan the repair of machines and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Training & Leadership
    • Develop, coach, and lead the production team, providing consistent and constructive guidance and feedback.
    • Ensure the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company’s standards for quality, quantity, safety, and GFSI.
  • Standard Operating Procedures
    • Continually evaluate processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product. Implement process improvements that optimize output, quality, and reduce costs.
    • Develop, recommend, and implement departmental policies and procedures, processes, and methods.

 Essential Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required; technical field or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in the manufacturing industry
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with flexographic printing and/or paper converting machines; including any of the following: Garant, Holweg, Weber, Beasley French, Newlong, Absolute, Potdevin, Fischer & Krecke
  • Highly Desired! Experience working in a GSFI (Global Food Safety Initiative) certified organization
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Professional and positive approach
  • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced, growing and changing environment preferred
