Job Description
GEI is seeking a professional level Geotechnical Engineer with a background in geological, geotechnical and/or geo-structural engineering. The Rocky Mountain Branch offices support traditional geotechnical, dam, deep foundations, environmental and water resource projects. Under supervision of senior staff, this individual will provide support to ongoing engineering design and field efforts. The selected candidate will be located in our Denver or Fort Collins, Colorado, offices.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conducting geotechnical analysis/design and presenting data and results through technical reports;
- Conduct seepage and stability analysis and apply results to designs;
- Managing small to large geotechnical projects and field programs;
- Performing geotechnical field investigations, including soil and rock logging, in-situ testing, monitoring well installation, and soil and water sampling;
- Developing and maintaining client relationships. This individual will represent GEI in communications and conferences pertaining to areas of specialty and to broad aspects of engineering;
- Assisting with proposals and business development activities;
- Developing Civil 3D models of small to major earthwork projects for use in design;
- Drafting, editing, and assembling technical specifications for construction projects;
- Directing and coordinating the assembly of final plan sets from multiple discipline work;
- Performing engineering/construction oversight.
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering. MS degree in Geotechnical or Geologic Engineering preferred.
- 4+ years of geotechnical design related experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain PE within one year
- Experienced with standard geotechnical analysis programs including GeoStudio Seep/W and Slope/W, Plaxis, WALLAP and L-Pile.
- Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus.
- Up to of 15% field time expected with project durations of 2-3 weeks at a time.
- Willing to perform field work on geotechnical investigations and construction projects.
