Brubacher is searching for an HR Generalist that puts our employees first! The HR Generalist manages administrative tasks in areas of HR which include administering pay changes, benefits/wellness, and leave of absences, and applying company policies and practices. The HR Generalist leads the administration and serves as a central resource for employee benefit programs, wellness, and Disability Administration (STD, LTD, FMLA).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains and promotes the Brubacher Excavating, Inc. core values of safety, integrity, initiative, and teamwork, both within the company and in interaction with other entities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and works closely with Human Resources Director to assure compliance, providing updated information as necessary.  Has a working knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
  • Leads the day-to-day administration of company 401(k) Profit Sharing plan.  Assists employees with health benefits claims.  Maintains appropriate documentation for life insurance, 401(k), FMLA, and disability benefits.  Educates employees regarding leaves of absence, especially STD, LTD, and Family and Medical Leave.  Manages the leave of absence process through the Disability Administrator; follow up regarding return to work.
  • Leads the wellness committee and company wellness initiatives.  Works closely with the Human Resources Director to develop each year’s benefits/wellness plan as part of the annual health care plan renewal.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Advises and trains supervisors in employee relations best practices.  Monitors employee attendance records and provides Management/Supervisor support in disciplinary practices as needed.
  • Under general direction and in coordination with the Safety department, ensures timely processing of workers' compensation claims.  Responsible for claims monitoring and administration, and communication with employees, managers, insurance carriers, medical staff, and Counsel.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.  Assists in planning and carrying out layoffs, recalls and terminations, as necessary.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of Company personnel policies and practices; ensures the Employee Policies and Practices Handbook is current.  Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources.
  • Coordinates and conducts exit interviews for all voluntary terminations.
  • Coordinates and conducts orientation for all new hires.
  • Drafts various communications such as welcome announcements, promotions and organization announcements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor or Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

  • 2 – 3 years of HR Generalist experience or equivalent administrative work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse populations and all levels of management
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Exhibits excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • A natural inclination to take action – the right action.  Proactive vs. reactive.
  • Experience in construction industry preferred
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations regarding employment, personnel and benefits administration preferred
