Job Description

The Green Bay, Wisconsin office of GEI is seeking a highly motivated intern to perform a broad range of environmental engineering duties to support our commercial and industrial environmental business line.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Complete a wide range of field tasks, including soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling, documentation of soil and groundwater remediation activities, and oversight of subcontractors.
  • Complete a wide range of office tasks, including project correspondence, data tabulation, regulation review, bid solicitation, and preparation of technical memos, reports, and proposals.
  • Complete Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Support environmental and engineering permit applications and contingency/monitoring plans, including, air quality permits, storm water permits, storm water pollution prevention plans, oil pollution prevention plans, and monitoring implementation plans.
  • Complete environmental reporting, including air emissions inventories, hazardous material inventories, and toxic release inventories.
  • Collaborate with team leads locally and nationally to support various program initiatives and project needs.
  • Travel to project sites when required, including overnight and extended assignments at various regional and national locations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • In pursuit of BS or MS in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology or similar related field. 
  • E.I.T. with ability to obtain P.E. preferred.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER is a plus.  GEI will provide training, if needed.
  • Proven communication, writing, time management, and organization skills.
  • Ability to work well with project teams.
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work in inclement weather.
  • Travel on various field assignments as needed.
  • Valid USA State driver’s license.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD software is considered a plus.
