Youthprise Job Posting: Nutrition Program Meal Access Intern

Job Summary

The Nutrition Program Meal Access Intern will recruit, expand, market, and monitor Nutrition Sites for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) located in or near the Metro. This position will be mostly virtual monitoring visits and meetings with the option of some in-person site visits or meetings, dependent on site and staff comfortability. Safety equipment is provided for potential in-person visits.  This position will provide regular oversight for food delivery and meal distribution to multiple sites in compliance with regulations of the USDA, Summer Food Service Program, and State of Minnesota Department of Education. The Meal Access Intern will learn multiple levels of community nutrition and food access that affect local Minnesota communities and their youth. Interns will also work with local vendors and community partners regularly to administer summer meals, helping the team to brainstorm and adjust working in the child nutrition realm mostly virtually.

Job Duration and Schedule: Part-time, temporary role; average 14 hours/week after training. Training in May; work June-August 2021. Flexible scheduling in normal business hours, with some early evening hours required to conduct site training and checks. Primarily remote work with the potential of on-site scheduled meetings. Safety equipment will be provided if meetings are in person – COVID protocol depending.

Compensation: This is a non-exempt role with a pay range of $16-$18/hour, depending on qualifications.

Education, Experience & Skills: High school diploma required (may be graduating May/June 2021); special interest in candidates pursuing undergraduate degree in Nutrition, Management, Health, Public Health, or related Community Service majors. One to three years of life or professional experience in youth development, family services, nutrition, food services, or related work. Some knowledge of federal and state food program requirements. Proficiency in MS Office product and database management. Passion and demonstrated ability to work with diverse cultural communities.
