JOB SUMMARY
Operator Qualification Instructors, often referred to as OQ Instructors, possess the ability to read, interpret and train employees with the Customers (Southwest Gas) OQ Covered tasks (CT) training modules.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Incumbent must have the skills, ability, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

▪ Conducts training for field employees on OQ required Covered Task training; on Customers standards and procedures; and in-house developed training

▪ Interacts closely with OQ/QC Manager to identify, schedule, and track Customer OQ requirements and ensure employees are up to date on their qualifications

▪ Travels occasionally, to assist other OQ Trainers

▪ Assists with performing OQ Nonconformance investigations

▪ Maintains and submits required paperwork in accordance with Company, customer requirements

▪ Conducts field Quality Control (QC) Inspections, when not training


KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

▪ Preferred experience: 5 – 7 years’ experience in the Natural Gas pipeline Industry

o 3 – 5 years of which is directly related to OQ regulations

▪ Preferred experience: Currently OQ Train the Trainer SWG qualified

▪ Preferred experience: Familiarity with administration and system requirements for OQ Programs such as: MEA, ITS, NGA, Veriforce, ISNetworld, EWN, etc

▪ Able to read and comprehend industry related standards, procedures and related governmental documentation (e.g. Federal Regulation 49 CFR 192 &195, OSHA1926)

▪ Excellent verbal & written communication skills

▪ Ability to use computers, fax machines and other office equipment; Must be proficient in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

▪ Travel requirements to job sites and other offices as needed

o Must be able to maintain a valid driver licenses

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

▪ Exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 30 lbs force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly. Work involves standing, sitting, climbing, kneeling, and crouching to a significant degree. Eye/hand coordination is essential.
