ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Surface water modeling, including hydrodynamics, sediment transport and water quality modeling (1-D, 2-D and/or 3-D), including potentially using programming for custom applications and data manipulation;
  • Hydrologic and pollutant load modeling of watersheds;
  • Stormwater and surface water monitoring and pilot studies, including monitoring system instrumentation;
  • Hydrology and hydraulics [engineering calculations and modeling] of open channels and stream systems;
  • Floodplain modeling;
  • Assistance for permitting and regulatory compliance;
  • Statistical data assessments and data visualization;
  • Contribution to applied research and technical guidance in water resources topic areas;
  • Field investigations and construction assistance services; and 
  • Technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, boater certification, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm.   • Fieldwork: may be required periodically
  • Overnight travel: as projects require

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental or civil engineering or closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering, with emphasis in water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration in Oregon, if applicable, within three years of employment. (strongly preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Related environmental or engineering experience. (preferred)
  • Experience with numerical modeling is strongly preferred. Example software includes, but is not limited to, HEC-RAS, EFDC, Delft3d, CE-QUAL-W2, LSPC/HSPF, PRMS, EPA-SWMM, and HEC-HMS. (preferred)
  • Experience with data assessments using software such as Microsoft Excel or programming languages such as R or Python. (preferred).
  • Exceptional social skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills. (required)
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel to project and client sites. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required).
