We are currently seeking a Lead Superintendent—an individual who consistently demonstrates the ability to successfully manage all aspects of field operations on  large-scale construction projects. Along with proven field experience, this individual also brings a strong work ethic, great communication skills, a fine eye for quality control, relationship building skills, and a teamwork approach to get things done. As the leader in the field, you manage the execution of work and operate as a resource to all team members. This multifaceted position makes you unique and a role model. Responsibilities:

  • The director of the project
  • Keeps the Project Manager and other office staff abreast of all field issues throughout the project
  • Informs the Project Manager and Regional General Superintendent of any potential risks observed
  • Coordinates Lydig's work with subcontractors
  • Coordinates subcontractors work with other subcontractors
  • Makes final approval of hiring and directing labor
  • Makes final approval of jobsite layout and laydown
  • Makes final approval for securing and managing temporary facilities throughout the project
  • Keeps the architect and owner advised of field conditions and concerns
  • Communicates, both in writing and verbally to project team members, owner and designer
  • Ability to evaluate and resolve dimensional problems related to construction documents, submittals and shop drawings
  • Provides estimating assistance throughout the project for added work, change orders, etc.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience

  • Completion of certified 4-year Carpenter’s Apprenticeship Program preferred, or equivalent experience / education and
  • 10 + years’ field experience preferred or equivalent or
  • BS Degree in Construction Management or
  • AA Degree in Construction related major with 3 years field experience and
  • 5 + years leading a commercial project as a Superintendent

Safety:

  • CESCL Training Certificate
  • Current First Aid Card
  • OSHA 30 Training

Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills which demonstrate an ability to learn all "Lydig Field Supervision" procedures and forms on the intranet page
  • Proficient with Primavera Contractor scheduling program
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedule for the project
  • Strong team building skills and an ability to work with others
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to manage labor productivity at a level that meets or exceeds profit expectations without sacrificing QQ/QC

Physical Abilities:

  • Must be physically able to walk throughout active construction sites
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stand for several hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs. for short distances
  • Vision must be adequate to evaluate working conditions and read documents
  • Hearing must be adequate to safely work around construction equipment and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to conduct training sessions in varied environments
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle

Other Requirements:

  • Must have a current driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as defined by Lydig’s insurance and vehicle policy
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment checks including: Drug Screen, Criminal Background and Credit check
