 IT Project Manager

We are a fast-growing IT team focused on digital transformation, with an emphasis on releasing high-impact and high-quality solutions to our users. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project management, both individually and as part of a team (local and offshore). Good communication skills are essential!

The ideal candidate must be able to fluidly transition between being an IT Project manager and a Business Analyst that can detail the user requirements into a cohesive product roadmap. Mears procures 3rd party solutions as well as builds home grown software applications that are rolled out to the field users across the country. This role will be the focal point in managing the request pipeline, providing portfolio status reports to the CIO and executive management, working with the change champions in the field to implement these solutions, conducting / coordinating training programs as needed and tracking the projects to completion. Frequent, efficient and crisp status reporting to the CIO and executive team is a necessary skill.

 What Do You Offer Us? 

  • Responsible for maintaining the IT Project portfolio and build project timelines for all approved projects.
  • Work with business users in gathering requirements, documenting requirements, analyzing boundary conditions and involving the subject matter experts where necessary.
  • Work with IT leaders (whose teams will be building the necessary solutions) for accurate timelines.
  • Work with QA teams and UAT teams in scheduling, conduct bug reviews and take the project to production.
  • Build project schedules, project go-live dates and maintain regular communication with project teams.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and ensure that they are fully informed on progress.
  • Work with business stakeholders in developing a go-live plan, a training plan that will implement the project to all the assigned Operations teams.
  • Undertake product demos, identify enhancement requests and improvements necessary to make the home-grown software solutions more successful.
  • Work with Offshore team members and IT leaders to implement a burn-down chart and other project metrics that help provide visibility / track progress.
  • Establish PM standards in the organization that help improve overall predictability of projects.
  • Regular communication to IT leadership, stakeholders and executives to bring visibility and transparency to IT operations.
  • Schedule necessary brain-storming sessions, project review meetings, establish a weekly cadence for project management.
  • Work with vendors in ensuring progress on new product improvements, track progress and coordinate with users for UAT and production releases.
  • Research and evaluate hardware and software technology options and weigh the cost/benefit analysis when making large purchases on behalf of the company.
  • Ability to work on a variety of projects in IT, ranging from software development, 3rd party product implementation, SOX audits, and working closely with other Portfolio managers is required.

What is Required? 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong emphasis on executive communication
  • Ability to understand technical nuances of IT projects and translating them into business terms.
  • Strong skills in scheduling, cost management, communicating with users in a distributed / multi-location enterprise.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies and methods.
  • Excellent time management and planning & organizing skills.
  • Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality.
  • Strong skills in MS Office and MS Project / similar tools such as Jira, Slack.
  • Working in a SOX governed environment is a plus.
  • Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles.
  • Certified Scrum Master or relevant Project Management certificate is a plus

Travel requirements: The PM should be available for travel for approximately 25% of their time. It will depend on the type of projects being rolled out.

Working Environment and Physical Demands

As this is mostly a sitting office position the employee is frequently is required to stand; walk; stoop; reach; climb; bend; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
