SCHEDULE AND WAGE: Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Wage: $26.07 hourly

POSITION GOAL

 This position requires a success-driven person that will be responsible for improving the overall performance scores of classrooms by establishing coaching partnerships with HS/EHS classroom teams that promote early childhood best practices, curriculum implementation, and effective teacher-child interactions.  Success in this position will be directly measured by the achievement of overall classroom performance increases. This position is a member of the Head Start/Early Head Start Leadership Team and will provide support and leadership to program staff.  Project management skills, writing skills, and familiarity with computer systems are important in this role. 

  1. Develop and monitor individual coaching plans with specific goals and areas for growth.
  2. Collaborate with Comprehensive Services Supervisor (CSS) to continually improve overall functions of classrooms. Work to develop a regular schedule for conducting classroom observations as a foundation for determining needs. 
  3. Review coaching goals with PBIS Leadership Team and report on implementation progress.
  4. Support cultural and linguistic responsiveness throughout the program by fostering a commitment to cultural diversity, home language support and specific support for dual language learners and their families.
  5. Function as a member of the Head Start Leadership team in activities assuring that federally mandated child outcomes are completed and reviewed for areas of strength and growth.
  6. Effectively identify problems, take appropriate corrective actions or makes timely notification to the Early Childhood Programs Director for area beyond his/her control.
  7. Provides child ratio coverage in the classroom on an emergency basis to meet state licensing and/or federal compliance regulations.
  8. Perform other duties as directed by the Early Childhood Program’s Director.

 Education and/or Experience

 A baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education; or a baccalaureate or advanced degree in related field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching in early childhood.

 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

 Receive clearance by the Iowa Department of Human Services on child abuse and criminal checks prior to hire and resubmit every two (2) years.

  1. Receive clearance by the Iowa Department of Human Services on child abuse and criminal checks prior to hire and resubmit every two (2) years.
  2. Receive clearance thru National FBI fingerprint checks.  Fingerprints must be submitted for national check prior to hire or start date at the center.  Resubmit every four (4) years.
  3. Pass a pre-employment health examination and subsequent health examinations every three (3) years thereafter.
  4. Provide TB screening clearance upon hire and every three (3) years thereafter.
  5. Complete Bloodborne Pathogen (Universal Precautions) within ten (10) days of employment and update annually.
  6. Complete Child Abuse Mandatory Reporting Training within three (3) months of employment and update every three (3) years.
  7. Obtain first aid training within three (3) months of employment and update every two (2) years.
  8. Obtain CPR training within three (3) months of employment and update every two (2) years.
  9. Complete CCDBG Essentials training within ninety (90) days of employment.   
  10. Attend a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of in-service training annually.
  11. Training activities must be accomplished within work hours scheduled or training hours approved by HACAP.
  12. Reliable transportation for use on the job.
  13. Valid driver's license and car insurance.
  14. Paid time and mileage calculated from the nearest HACAP service site to the population cluster to be served by the employee or from the employee's residence, whichever is nearer.
