STAFF ACCOUNTANT:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of monthly financial analysis reports while adhering to SOX compliance.  The successful candidate will also collect pertinent information for third party audits and be a part of a support team for 16 branches across the Northeast.

Essential Duties:

  • Participates in monthly internal financial statement close process, along with the quarterly external financial statement close process
  • Prepares General Ledger entries by maintaining records and files
  • Reconciles assigned Balance Sheet accounts including Prepaid Expense, Intercompany notes, and Accrued Expenses
  • Manages Fixed Assets an Lease accounts
  • Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements
  • Assists in annual inventory count process
  • Reviews expense accounts for consistency and accuracy
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommends changes
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching interpreting data
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Business, Accounting or Finance is required
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of related experience 
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, reporting, expense analysis and journal posting is required
  • Ability to think critically, problem solve independently
  • Effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Advanced computer skills; knowledge of v-lookups, pivot tables and manipulation of large volumes of excel data are required
  • Ability to be highly visible and to interact with executive management, project team leaders and other financial professionals
  • Knowledge of Microsoft AX and 365 a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Office environment with moderate noise levels
  • Mostly sedentary role with the need to move about the office to copy, scan, fax and file
  • May require the light lifting of storage boxes
  • May require consistent time spent on the computer and phone throughout the day
