Network & System Internship Opportunity for Summer or Fall 2021

Position Title: Network Intern.

Compensation: Paid.

Hours: Minimum of 15 hours per week.

The goal of the Network Internship Program at Vision Net is to provide an opportunity for real world application of network and system practices learned in the academic environment.

Mentorship

Vision Net honors the internship experience as an opportunity to provide mentorship. Our executive leadership is highly invested in the program, in this role, you will work closely with the Operations and Business Development Manager and get the chance for one-on-one opportunity interaction with our CEO.

Intern Responsibilities:

At Vision Net, Interns are encouraged to learn and grow throughout their time with us. Primary responsibilities and opportunities for learning will include:

• Layer 1 and 2 troubleshooting for customer and VN network elements.
• Reading and understanding technical documentation in order to troubleshoot and provide trouble ticket updates.
• Layer 2 switching: configuration work and troubleshooting.
• Layer 3 routing:  configuration work and troubleshooting.
• PV4 subnetting.
• VOIP Troubleshooting.

Intern Qualifications:

While we are ready to teach, we also want our interns to have a head start on the skills and technologies that will provide an opportunity for success and higher-level learning. Here are some basic requirements to start with:

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate course for Computer Science, IT or similar field.
• Basic computer and IT troubleshooting.
• Basic Linux server admin work.
• Familiarity with DNS systems.
• Knowledge of the OSI model and TCP/IP stack to assist in troubleshooting.
• Communication and work ethic are absolutely essential.
• Multi-tasking is a plus.
