JOB DESCRIPTION

Purchasing Leader

The Purchasing Leader is responsible for managing the flow of material in and out of the warehouse, writing and tracking purchase orders, reviewing listings and coordinating with vendors for fabrication and purchase quotes. The Purchasing Leader will track back orders and shortages and communicate with project leaders, superintendents and other required parties. The Purchasing Leader is also responsible for tracking inventory and purchases in Microsoft Dynamics AX.

PURCHASING LEADER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with the shop foreman to determine purchase requirements versus stock on hand for project materials requirements.
  • Ensure proper billing by comparing purchase orders to invoices.
  • Communicate frequently with vendors to confirm delivery dates.
  • Coordinate with the shop foreman and drivers to manage the flow of material to ensure timely and accurate material delivery.

 

PURCHASING LEADER EXPECTATIONS

  • Maintain communication with project leaders and superintendents to provide updates on short-lead and overnight purchase requirements.
  • Develop relationships with quality vendors to secure improved pricing.
  • Communicate backorders or other delays that effect job schedules immediately to the appropriate department and project leaders.
  • Set clear expectations with departments with regards to realistic delivery schedules. Do not overpromise.
  • Minimize overhead costs by using all excess shop stock before ordering new tools and materials.

 

Job Title: Purchasing Leader

Job Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (40 per week)
