The Housing Navigator is part of the Continuum of Care Team which includes a Coordinated Entry Specialist, the Continuum of Care Coordinator, and other Housing Navigators. The Team supports a broad, multi-agency response system for people experiencing homelessness/housing crises. The special purpose of this Housing Navigator position is to assist individuals and families experiencing domestic violence and those who are suffering the residual effects from previous abuse. All work will be coordinated with local victim service agency partners.

Housing Navigators help families and individuals access or maintain housing and other needed services by developing and maintaining working knowledge of homeless housing and services programs in the region; maintaining partnerships for Coordinated Entry (CE) with community service agencies, volunteer networks, etc.; building relationships and maintaining contact with CE participants; determining preliminary eligibility or denial for housing/service openings; maintaining forms and systems for participant records in HMIS/database; and completing administrative responsibilities.

This is a part-time position with an expectation of 24 hours per week (3 days a week, Monday-Friday). Retirement plan with Agency match after one year is included. The Navigator works at partner locations at least two days per week, and at one of the Agency’s office locations (or possibly at a home office) the other day. Travel using personal vehicle is required.

Qualifications include the following: 

  • Two year degree in Human Service or a related field
  • Previous experience with case management, service coordination or non-profit customer service/intake
  • Previous experience within Coordinated Entry and/or housing placement and referral systems, and/or knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, or child abuse and homelessness strongly preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is strongly preferred
