HR Support Specialist

Alternative HRD, LLC is a human resource management and consulting firm based in Sioux Falls. We provide HR support and service to businesses, non-profits and public entities. For clients that have no HR professional on staff, we provide as-needed services, and in some cases serve as their HR department. For larger clients who have one or more HR professional on staff, we supplement their efforts, or provide interim HR management when needed.

We seek an individual with outstanding administrative and office skills, who also has some basic HR experience, to provide support to our consultants and our clients.  We'd like a self-starter, proficient with MS Office (and software in general), who can help keep our projects on track, fine-tune our office processes, and help us continue to grow! This position will be a part-time, day-time position, starting at about 20 hours per week, but it could grow in hours and responsibility for the right person.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support and assistance to our HR Consultants: 
    • provide research as needed
    • proof letters, proposals, handbooks, reports and other documents
    • set up job posts; assist in recruiting candidates for clients
    • conduct phone screens, candidate testing and reference checks
  • Provide general office and business support: 
    • answer phones, assist customers and respond to inquiries
    • create and maintain client files
    • maintain and update client and prospect databases
    • maintain calendars
    • assist with time-tracking, invoicing and accounts payable

Qualifications include:

  • Experience: Prefer 2-4 years of HR, general office and/or administrative experience
  • Juggling: Must be able to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities well
  • Humming: Must be able to help our team stay effective, and keep our office 'humming'
  • Technology: Strong PC skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe, HRIS; troubleshooting ability with technology is also a plus
