We are seeking an experienced and qualified Business Development Director to extend our reach through strategic pursuits and untapped business opportunities and relationships. You will be responsible for pursuing existing and new market sectors, developing relationships with public and private clients, and assisting with capture strategies for various pursuits in the state of Florida. An emphasis will be placed on the following service lines:

  • Transportation engineering (Roadway, traffic, transit planning)
  • Bridge engineering and maintenance Utilities engineering
  • Urban planning and Landscape Architecture
  • Geospatial services specifically related to surveying and aerial mapping

Opportunities you’ll have:

  • Collaborate with leaders across market sectors and geographic regions to develop and implement capture strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate industry trends, marketplace conditions, and customer needs.
  • Identify growth markets and client target opportunities for new business pursuits.
  • Support divisional efforts to meet revenue goals across all market sectors and services.
  • Maintain existing clients that align with Ayres’ culture, philosophy, and corporate/divisional strategic growth plans.
  • Seamlessly connect clients to appropriate technical leaders.
  • Assist/train junior project managers in developing skills related to client relationship and business development.
  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations.
  • Act as an Ayres ambassador in the business and professional communities.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • 15 years experience in the A/E, Urban Planning or Geospatial industry.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Transportation engineering (Roadway, traffic, transit planning)
    • Bridge engineering and maintenance Utilities engineering
    • Urban planning, Landscape Architecture
    • Geospatial services specifically related to surveying and aerial mapping.
  • Willingness to travel on a regular basis. This position could require significant travel within the state of Florida and occasional travel to other states within the Southeast Division to support Business Development.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

  • Technical aptitude with ability to understand clients’ needs and align to our services.
  • Draws on multiple relationships to exchange ideas, resources, and best practices.
  • A desire to build the Ayres brand nationally.
  • Ability to think outside the box to generate creative ideas and inspire our team.
  • Passion for representing Ayres in a professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience with conference presentations and project interviews
  • Professional certification in field of expertise (PE/PSM/AICP/other)      
  • Proficient in MS Office.
