Position Summary
Provides plant production control and through maintenance and mechanical support
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Ensures safe and efficient operation of the plant through maintenance, inspection and repair of the equipment and operating conditions of the plant.
Assists in performing preventative maintenance on equipment.
Operates plant based on production schedules to assure appropriate sequence of operations.
Keep plant facilities clean and safe for efficient operation. Will operate a fire hose to clean the plant, operate water valves, and control electrical switches in the plant.
Maintain appropriate logs.
As needed, use a skid-loader and/or loader to work around the plant and dredge.
Notify appropriate personnel of any problems.
Assure the next shift operator is informed of plant status.
Other duties may be assigned.
Position Requirements and Education
- Requires a vocational/technical mechanic diploma; or three to six months related mechanic experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must have proven mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License (Class O).
- Must be flexible regarding work assignments.
- Must demonstrate willingness to perform other support duties during non-busy times.
- Must be able to work with various hand tools of the trade.
- Must have good manual dexterity and good motor coordination skills.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
Would regularly climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; able to talk, hear, and smell.
Must be able to use up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
The employee is occasionally required to sit.
Direct frontal reaching is required while the employee may be required to lift 25 pounds over the head occasionally, must also be able to lift up to 70 pounds to waist height.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Employees are required to wear protective safety gear and eye protection.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and possible extreme heat.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; 25% outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The employee will also climb stairs to access the plant.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Employees are required to wear protective ear protection.
There are some chemical exposures that are part of performing the job.
SDS sheets are available in the department.
The shift at the plant is normally 12-hour shifts, which may be day or night depending on time of year and business conditions.
Plant and field environment with exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, chemicals, and work in some confined.
This is a tobacco free campus.
