Job Description
GEI Consultants Inc. – Savanta Division is seeking a full time Landscape Architect for our ecological restoration and natural heritage system design projects. The landscape architect would work collaboratively with the natural science and engineering team to design, build and monitor created/ restored wetland, grassland, woodland and wildlife habitats, including habitats for species at risk. Our environmental design work contributes to healthier cities and communities, where people benefit from the ecosystem services provided by nature. Our clients and project stakeholders’ value that development occurs in a manner that supports the conservation and recovery of natural system processes and biodiversity. Opportunities are also available to provide additional landscape architect services to our wide range of clients.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with natural scientists and engineers to provide landscape design services, including:
- Providing inputs to proposals and terms of reference;
- Conceptual design, detailed design drawings and construction specifications;
- Cost estimates and quantity take-offs;
- Tender drawings, documentation and administration;
- Contract procurement; and
- Construction administration and site inspections.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Full OALA membership with seal (required);
- 5+ years professional experience in an office setting as a Landscape Architect;
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design;
- Experience in designing with ecological principles;
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization and time management skills;
- Experience managing projects and clients;
- Excellent understanding of technical drawings, detailing and specifications;
- Efficient with AutoCAD and other plugins and add-ons;
- Proficient in SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator; and
- Proficient with MS Office 365 (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Other Qualifications Considered Beneficial:
- BES or BSc in natural sciences; or
- Degree or diploma in ecological restoration; or
- ISA arborist certification.
