What you will do

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join our growing dynamic team! The ideal candidate will be driven, innovative, compassionate, believe in the goodness of people and cannabis, and enjoys the one team, one dream motto! The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing day-to-day general accounting tasks across our various state markets. This individual will be responsible for recording payroll entries, fixed asset accounting, updating account reconciliations, recording retail revenue, and preparing sales/use/excise tax filings. This is a hybrid role, reporting to the office twice a week. The role reports directly to the Accounting Manager.  

Highlighted Responsibilities

  • Performing day-to-day tasks including:
    • Fixed asset accounting
    • Retail revenue entries
    • Expense reimbursement reporting
    • Sales/use/excise tax return preparation
  • Performing month-end tasks including:
    • Lease accounting entries (right of use assets)
    • Amortization and depreciation of assets
    • Intercompany and credit card reconciliations
    • Payroll and insurance accruals
    • Record and releasing prepaid expenses
    • Pulling inventory related reports
    • Reclassifying expenses to specific cost centers and location codes for internal reporting.
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
  • Assist in PBC requests for audits and reviews.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal control.
  • Ad hoc finance projects, including external audit requests, expense reporting, and tax matters.
  • Other duties assigned by manager

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in public accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office required. 
  • Experience with month end close process.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Adaptable to change in the work environment. 
  • CPA certification preferred. 
  • Microsoft Business Central experience preferred.
