We are seeking an exceptional Project Mining & Dams Engineer (Part Time) with substantial mining experience and at least 5 years of experience, to help grow our Mining team in our Lakewood, Colorado office. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects, including the financial and technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform and review geotechnical analyses for complex, multi-discipline mining projects to include, but not limited to, tailings storage facility design, heap leach design, feasibility/permit-level design, and mine closure and reclamation;
  • Work under minimal supervision and lead projects or tasks with a firm understanding of the goals and objectives of our clients;
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Review and manage written document production;
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
  • At times, job may also include fieldwork including travel to select project locations throughout Colorado and surrounding states, construction oversight, and contractor oversight.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm.   • Fieldwork: Up to 25%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 10%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in geological, or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in relevant engineering discipline. (preferred)
  • Professional certification in Colorado (P.E. or equivalent) or ability to obtain when eligible. (required)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 7 years of experience in a surface or underground mining environment. (required)
  • Understanding of mining operations and mine waste management, heap leach, geotechnical material characterization (particularly mined materials), slope stability, deformation analyses, liquefaction potential, seismic hazard assessments, see page and foundation characteristics of dams/tailing storage facilities. (required)
  • Strong technical background in geotechnical and civil engineering with knowledge of design, construction, and closure practices for mining facilities, particularly tailing and waste storage facilities, in a variety of climatic and seismic regions. (preferred)
  • An understanding of the relationship between the geotechnical aspects of mining other disciplines related to mining to include, but not limited to geology, hydrogeology, environmental practices/permitting, rock mechanics, water management, process design and pumping/piping of tailing slurry. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Current MSHA New Miner or Annual Refresher Training. (preferred)
  • Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
