Location: Baltimore, MD
The System Engineer will perform the following duties:
• Configure and maintain Active Directory, NetApp, VMWare, MS SQL Server software.
• Lead support for Symantec Antivirus – install agents, monitor software, perform upgrades.
• Lead support for Patch Manager Plus patching software. Patch servers and desktops. Install agents, monitor the software, research patches, prepare and send monthly reports to the Office of Enterprise Technology at the Maryland Department of Health.
• Lead support for Netwrix Auditing software - monitoring Active Directory and SQL Servers.
• Provide assistance and backup support to the IT Systems Technical Specialist with network, domain, fileservers, and infrastructure.
• Provide assistance and backup support to the IT Systems Technical Support Specialist Supervisor with Microsoft SQL Server software.
• Configure the local area network for users, troubleshoot problems with connections between the local and wide area networks
• Perform hardware/software installation, testing and maintenance. Work with OIT, DoIT, and vendors to troubleshoot operating system software and hardware malfunctions, local and wide area network problems, and application software bugs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered by users using hardware/software in a timely manner.
• Provide timely assistance and help to users in areas, including, but not limited to, personalized assistance, telephone assistance and limited training.
Qualifications
• Working proficiency in Active Directory, VMWare, Citrix and NetApp.
• Experience with Veeam and Synology file servers, and Netscaler.
• Working proficiency with SQL Server Management and SQL Server scripts.
• Working proficiency with Microsoft Access.
• Ability to install software, set up computers, printers, scanners, troubleshoot, physically connect, move and carry computers and peripherals.
• May be required to work on evenings, weekends and holidays and may be subject to call in.
