MISSION OF THE POSITION

Supply Chain will have global responsibilities for Production & Capacity Planning, Inventory Planning, and Logistics Management.

WORK LOCATION

The Director of Supply Chain position is located in Bryan, Texas.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Production & Capacity Planning
    • Drives the Sales & Operations Planning process including Research, Clinical, and Commercial demand forecasting, and production planning
    • Establishes a process/system for quantifying, allocating, and reporting production capacity
    • Supports updates of the Operations long range plan that outlines future capabilities, update capacity models and decisions needed to support the company’s overall strategy in partnership with key stakeholders
    • Meets with stakeholders to determine short term and long-term production demand to identify capacity constraints
  • Scheduling
    • Develops a streamlined & scalable supply chain process with robust tracking capability
    • Manages dynamic patient scheduling and associated logistics daily to ensure capacity is effectively used and the clinical program timelines are met
    • Leads ongoing scheduling communication between manufacturing site(s), project teams, and customers
  • Supply Network Strategy
    • Leads overall operations strategies assessment include make/buy evaluations, scenarios planning, supply impact assessment and network supply strategy
    • Translates technical requirements from product teams into manufacturing implementation plans
    • Manages external manufacturing partner relationships
  • Logistics Management
    • Establishes cold chain shipping and distribution strategy and processes
    • Qualifies logistics providers and set up the supply chain including courier selection, container validation, etc.
    • Manages data logging capabilities to maintain shipping conditions and unit tracking
  • Materials Management
    • Establishes and maintains a system for managing supply of materials that includes specifying, purchasing, receiving, testing, releasing, and using materials
    • Establishes and executes material planning procedures to ensure a consistent supply of materials to meet the production plan both near term and long range.)
    • Works with Sourcing and Quality to establish and maintain a reliable supplier network to provide the best value
    • Partners with quality to conduct risk assessment and supplier audit / qualification, using risk-based approach to determine preferred supplier and materials supply/inventory strategy
  • Performance Management
    • Proactively identifies, develops, and implements reporting and analytics to support the monitoring of overall supply chain performance
    • Measures, trends, and reports supply related KPI’s as a basis to drive continuous improvement
    • Accountable for defining and reporting Supply Chain Performance Management

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Strong familiarity with ERP systems
  • Business acumen, including both industry, financial and regulatory perspectives
  • Successful track record in implementing and driving business processes that result in aligned objectives, right outcomes, and timely stakeholder communications
  • An innovative mindset, with an ability to embrace change, respect differences of opinion, communicate openly and build consensus
  • Ability to be both strategic and detail focused with strong critical thinking skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Master of Science or Master of Business Administration in related field required
  • 15 plus years of experience in biotech/pharmaceuticals, including at least 3-5 years in a supply chain role
  • Experience in clinical planning, demand forecasting, supply/production planning, materials planning, capacity management, logistics management
  • Experience leading supply chain systems implementation preferred
  • Start-up experience strongly preferred
  • APICS Certification required
  • Lean Certification required
