Truck Driver Job Description

Job Summary:

At Site Work Specialists, a truck driver will haul loads of material to job sites by operating side dump, belly dump, and end dump trucks. The position’s skill set is continuously increasing by working with an exceptional team that prides itself on doing some of the finest and most challenging projects in the northern plains region.

Essential Functions:

  • Safely and accurately backing up material loads
  • Travel on unpaved roadways
  • Perform light maintenance on trucks including, but not limited to replacing air hoses, repairing lights, and greasing
  • Complete daily walkarounds and pre-trip inspections
  • Keeping cab and floors of equipment free of trash
  • Other tasks outside of truck driving as directed by supervisor
  • Be dependable to your team: You work as a team and progress as a team

Education Requirements:

  • No minimum education requirements

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid Class A CDL
  • Minimum of 6 months commercial driving experience
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random employee pool drug/alcohol testing
  • Must have personal transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work
  • Must arrive on time to job site fit for duty for required shift and have personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary tools with you.
  • Willingness to learn and master new tasks, duties, and responsibilities
  • Pay attention to job details to provide an acceptable uniform product
  • Identify and communicate any job site hazards
  • Safely and correctly operate all manual and power tools
  • Keep all tools in good, clean, and operating order
  • Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping on all job sites
  • Display a positive attitude towards the company, fellow employees, and customers
  • Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by your supervisor and ask questions when you do not understand the task
  • Be responsible for working unsupervised and complete work as directed
  • Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices following company policy Wear and maintain PPE as directed by supervisor and safety team, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility vests
  • Willingness to travel out-of-town
  • Maintain acceptable personal hygiene
  • Dress appropriately for working conditions

 Required Tools:

Must have required tools listed below within 30 days of hire and bring them with you to the job site as needed:

Hand Broom

Grease Gun

Leather Work Boots

 

Physical Requirements

  • Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) as needed throughout the work shift
  • Ability to safely climb up and down ladders
  • Ability to work alone once instructions have been given
  • Able to complete a full day's assignments involving one or more of the following: Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment and any other safety-related equipment
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow, depending on the job location
  • Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required
