Fiore Gold Pan Mine, located near Eureka and Ely, Nevada is looking for a Senior Mine Geologist to join our team! Summary of Position: Reporting directly to the Mine Manager, the Senior Mine Geologist will provide geological services, including mapping and ore control for the mine operations. This position works closely with mine, engineering, and process operations in this planning effort.

Essential Functions

Work with other intercompany groups, consultants and crews to ensure a safe execution of planned mining activities.
Carry out and oversee technical functions (mapping, direct ore blending) at the crusher stockpile.
Collaborate with operations, engineering, metallurgy, safety and environmental in the execution of the business plan.
Assist in preparing budget requests.
Generate weekly and monthly mine production and ore reconciliation reports as requested.
Responsible for assisting with ore control, ore characterization, ore pit mapping, quarterly ore and waste sampling, and planning support using the geological data.
Responsible for blasthole sampling and oversight of the QA/QC.
Coordinate collection of geological data including blast hole samples, geological samples as required, mapping of blastholes, and highwall mapping.
Assist with reconciling the geology between plan and model(s).
Assist with surveying, highwall mapping, and other duties as assigned.

Experience and Training

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the mining industry in an open pit operation required.
Bachelor of Science in Geology or Geological Engineering degree required.
Ability to meet deadlines, work with minimum supervision.
Ability to collect field data and integrate to a three-dimensional interpretation of mineralized systems.
Experience with Microsoft computer systems and a working knowledge of Mine Planning Software (MineSight), AutoCAD and Database programs are a plus.
Proven ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, hot and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When in the field, appropriate hearing protection may be needed.

Safety

Expected to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while in a production environment (Hard Hat, Steel Toed Boots and Reflective Visible Clothing/Vest) or as required for the specific job duty. Must be able to wear a respirator to perform specific job duties by utilizing a ½ or full-face respirator.  Be alert and observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions. Follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements. Assure that appropriate task training has been completed and documented for all equipment, vehicles, and systems.
