ABOUT THE ROLE
The WISe (Wraparound Intensive Services) Child Mental Health Team has an exciting opportunity to join as a fulltime WISe Child Mental Health Therapist serving children ages 6-12 and their families. The WISe Child Mental Health Therapist will provide a full range of direct and indirect services to children ages 6-12 and their families presenting with a wide variety of emotional and behavioral concerns. Services include: Child Parent Psychotherapy, family therapy, individual child therapy, ongoing case management, assessment, treatment and discharge planning and advocacy. Delivery of therapeutic services in the office, in foster or birth homes as well as in community settings.

TYPICAL DUTIES
The WISe Child Mental Health Therapist completes initial intake as well as a comprehensive assessment (including CANS) and determines DC-05/DSM V diagnosis on an ongoing basis that places clients in the most appropriate treatment course in the timeliest manner.

  • Assists in developing strength-based, goal-oriented treatment plans which address the specific needs of the family and specific anticipated clinical outcomes.
  • Provides therapy in clients’ homes, at schools, in the community and/or Childhaven therapeutic centers.
  • Provides direct treatment services, group therapy, and group facilitation to assigned cases, including case management, parental skills training (PPP, Incredible Years, PFR, PCIT or TF-CBT), crisis intervention, home visits, referral and advocacy, and therapy in a culturally sensitive and family focused, strength-based manner. Provides discharge planning as well.
  • Maintains complete documentation of the child’s case records in the designated EHR, including assessments, progress notes, individual treatment plan, other internal paperwork as needed and discharge summaries. Maintains consumer records in keeping with Agency, County and State guidelines.
  • Maintain productivity standards of direct service as established for the position.
  • Participates actively in the child and family team meetings, including active participation in the development of the cross-system care plan.
  • Utilize parent/family expertise in problem solving around specific needs.
  • Partner with the family to assist them in utilizing the resources offered by formal and informal sources within their community.
  • Provide mental health consultation for school, childcare environments, afterschool programs or other various community providers, to support the child’s success in natural settings.
  • Provides and/or arranges necessary crisis response and stabilization services, completing and communicating the safety/crisis plan with family and others.
  • Participates in on-call rotation and responds to client crises on-call during assigned weeks.
  • Maintains complete documentation of the child’s case records according to Childhaven policy in the designated electronic health records. Maintains records in keeping with Agency, County, and State requirements and WISe fidelity guidelines.
  • Maintains productivity standards for direct service as established for the position.
  • Ensures timely collection of statistical information for external funding sources and program evaluations.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable agency contracts and adheres to all Federal, State, and Local confidentiality requirements and guidelines. Performs periodic reviews of documentation on regular basis when required by WISe Coach/WISe Clinical Manager or when need arises (self-audit).
  • Participates in scheduled supervision, team meetings, and administrative meetings. Utilizes reflective/clinical supervision to support professional growth and quality client care.
  • Maintain ethical, competent, and healthy client relationships, communication skills, and boundaries.
  • Assists with supervising and recruiting mental health interns, if applicable.
  • Remains current with professional development requirements through seminars, etc.
  • Complies with all Childhaven policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Mental Health Counselor; Independent Clinical Social Worker; or Marriage & Family Therapist Certification AND/OR Associate Status
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, have a state required minimum automobile insurance, and be able to use own vehicle for the job.
  • Verifiable safe driving record.
  • Childhaven background check and drug screen requirement.
  • A clear portable background check through Washington Department of Early Learning.
  • Maintain current certifications including Child/Infant CPR, first aid and AED, HIV and bloodborne pathogens.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of experience in therapeutic work with families disadvantaged by social, economic, or racial oppression from a variety of cultural backgrounds and those with experience working with kindergarten and grade school children ages 6-12.
  • Training in evidence-based practices (i.e., Child Parent Psychotherapy, Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Triple P, Incredible Years, Infant Mental Health, Promoting First Relationships, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
  • Prior experience in Wraparound or WISe program.
  • Prior experience working with children who have experienced trauma.
