The Role
The Sr. Stationary Equipment Mechanic (Plant Mechanic Lead) is responsible for making sure plant adjustments are met daily. This will include but not limited to plant maintenance tasks such as preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostic troubleshooting and repairs. This role will also support the Assistant Plant Manager and Plant Manager as needed. The role may act as a backup in the absence of the supervisor in terms of scheduling and directing other plant employees on any tasks to be completed. This role provides limited supervision to others through motivation, direction, review, and feedback of assigned tasks. Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other tasks assigned. Normal work hours are 6:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with weekend hours as needed. Hours of operation may fluctuate to meet production goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs a daily pre-shift workplace inspection.
- Performs routine maintenance, such as inspecting plant belts, fluid levels and any other preventive maintenance tasks.
- Perform daily walkthrough inspections of the plant, grounds to ensure the plant is operating correctly, and are free of any hazards.
- Responsible for changing screens, gearboxes, cone liner changes, welding etc.
- Troubleshoot plant equipment failures and diagnose the safest and efficient way to fix the problem.
- Repair equipment and replace plant equipment to ensure the plant can operate safely.
- Install and repair hydraulic systems, conveyor belts, bearings, feeders, shafts etc. when needed.
- Operates various equipment, power tools and hand tools to assist with plant maintenance.
- Assist with grounds and plant cleanup.
- Assist with delegating plant maintenance tasks to plant employees to complete.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Assist with developing, training and coaching plant maintenance staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Three (3) to Five (5) years prior related experience required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current North Carolina Driver’s License required
