SEATTLE REP is seeking a highly skilled Properties Artisan to join the Properties Department Team. The Properties Artisan is a critical member of the Properties Department and provides essential support for our high-quality productions. The Properties Team consists of five people.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Properties Artisan engineers, builds and maintains properties and furniture for all productions per design specifications.
Essential functions:
- Furniture reupholstery and refinishing
- Reads and interprets scaled drawings, sketches, models, and pictures for the engineering and building of properties
- Sewing drapery
- Assists in the pickup and delivery of furniture and hand props from storage, place of purchase, and rehearsal
- Builds, upholsters, casts, paints, electrifies props that are used in Seattle Rep productions
- Assists in the maintenance of production props
- As applicable and/or assigned, orders materials for specific projects
- Creates mockups and samples to help determine best execution of final product
- Assists other properties staff as needed
- Assists in striking and putting away all shows
Safety & General
- Properly handles, uses, and disposes of all toxic materials in the workplace
- Assists in the training of the Properties Intern
- Attends to other assignments as identified by the Properties Director, including but not limited to activities in the Theatre
- Attends meetings pertinent to production, props, SRT all- staff and EDI work
- Serve as an essential contributor to Seattle Rep’s culture and success
- Adds constructively to the collaborative and collegial health of the organization
- Adds actively and constructively to the equity, diversity, and inclusion work of the organization, including attending all-staff training sessions
- Engage with and strive to embody Seattle Rep’s mission, vision, and values in all aspects of work
Minimum qualifications
- Proven skills and working knowledge of theatrical props or similar craftsmanship, and techniques and materials acquired through education and/or experience
- Ability to work in many mediums: wood, metal, plastics, paint, and fabrics
- Ability to work with power tools-saws, sewing machines
- Ability to lift and move furniture and appliances safely
- Ability to climb and work from a ladder
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Must possess a full range of motion
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Photoshop
- Commitment to racial equity and social justice
