Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) is currently searching for a Digital Communications Specialist to join the Communications and Corporate Relations team. CIPCO prefers this position to be located in Des Moines, Iowa, but would be open to candidates in the Cedar Rapids area as well. This position creates digital media content, including video, for CIPCO and its member systems and serves as an internal and external communications resource.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with members and CIPCO on providing optimal communications programs, products and services including special publications that best meet intended project goals. Work with and advise individuals on most applicable communication format based on requests; develop plan per project; monitor goals and advise contacts on progress. 
  • Produce digital content for CIPCO’s social media platforms on a weekly basis.
  • Produce and edit videos for digital content, web sites, presentations, and member systems on a monthly basis.
  • Guide stakeholder interaction on CIPCO’s social media platforms. Ensure CIPCO messaging standards are adhered to.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of CIPCO’s monthly editorial calendar in partnership with department members.
  • Oversee social media channel management, including community management support and reporting.
  • Write CIPCO related content to support digital media initiatives.
  • Support department development of print collateral for CIPCO and members systems as needed.
  • Photograph activities, events, meetings, initiatives, and projects for CIPCO and member cooperatives that may include shooting and editing video for same.
  • Manage CIPCO’s display system for member usage. Provide information and instruction on usage as needed.
  • Assist in special projects as requested.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design or other related discipline with a minimum 3 years’ directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Self-starter with a high level of initiative

  • Detail oriented
  • Organizational and priority skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Understands the characteristics, principles and application of all communication mediums
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Adobe Premier, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop plus other software programs
