Fiber Engineer Job Description

Fiber Engineer
The position will require you to work primarily in an office setting as you help our construction team meet the needs of our valued and high-profile clients. The Fiber Engineer is responsible for conducting fiber optic detailed network design. This position is responsible for the final design content and document generation to support the placement of the fiber infrastructure.

What Do You Offer Us?

•Evaluate documents and adhere to client design requirements

•Review and validate fiber test results according to client's specifications

•Generate fiber test reports and close out packages using Exfo or related software

•Identify possible fiber design and testing issues that could delay production

•Ability to read an understand civil design, fiber design and fiber splicing prints

•Coordinate with the field team on specific site visit schedules and data gathering requirements

•Perform detailed designs specifically adhering to design standards provided

•Calculate and generate all necessary splicing print assignments and power loss budgets

•Perform design within allocated budgets and time frames

•Provide detailed design in GIS based system

•Review designs for quality and cost improvements

What is Required?

•Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or other similar degree or experience making the individual qualified toperform the job responsibilities preferred

•Minimum of 3 years of work-related experience

•Knowledge in GIS mapping preferred

•Familiar with construction focus on fiber builds

•Proven experience in project management

•Excellent client and internal communication skills

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
