OBJECTIVE: Work with team members of Public Affairs and Producer Services interacting with Iowa’s soybean farmers focusing on policy and regulatory developments.  Internship will include projects relating to writing and communications, membership campaigns, program development and management, farmer engagement and administrative tasks. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Writing, proofreading and formatting biweekly communication pieces to farmers focused on policy issues
  • E-Newsletters, as well as other pieces to be included in ISA’s communication efforts
• Communicate with farmers, legislators and key stakeholders
• Research and analyze policy and/or regulatory issues of interest to soybean farmers
• Assist with ISA Advocate membership recruitment and retention planning
• Represent ISA at farmer-centric meetings, field days and trade shows
• Assist with meeting planning/scheduling, preparation and follow up
• Assist with program planning for Policy Leaders Fellowship (PLF)
• Other tasks as assigned

TRAVEL

This position requires frequent travel. Travel will generally be within Iowa using company vehicles and will normally be completed within normal business hours.

TIMELINE

This position will be January through August. This position will work with Public Affairs for up to 20 hours per week from January to April. This position will work with Public Affairs and Producer Services for up to 40 hours per week, May through August.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Undergraduate degree (BA or BS), in progress or completed, with a focus in agriculture, communication or policy
