Position Summary
Coordinates activities of workers engaged in manufacturing concrete products and delivering Ready Mixed Concrete.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Follows all DOT FMCSA and NEBCO rules regarding the drivers they dispatch.
Dispatch concrete mixer trucks according to travel time to jobs and the best plant location to service the jobs. Identify any potential problems in advance. Provide yardage information for material handling.
Ensure all orders are complete and accurate before ticketing.
Demonstrate familiarity with delivery areas and ability to assist drivers in finding jobs.
Track orders by monitoring demand, utilization, and capacity, while prioritizing work.
Confers with plant production and yard personnel to establish delivery schedules according to factors such as truck capacities, distances to delivery site, and unloading time.
Develop a positive rapport with drivers, supervisors, and customers to communicate all pertinent information dispatched to the appropriate individual or groups pertaining to all companies.
Maintains radio contact with drivers to expedite deliveries.
Through experience and evaluation, identify and provide feedback to the Manager on opportunities to improve dispatch performance.
Based on business needs, must be able and willing to work overtime and weekends.
Other duties may be assigned.
Position Requirements and Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous dispatch experience is helpful and preferred.
- Good working knowledge of the layout of the City and surrounding areas.
- Must be able to produce high quality, accurate work while coordinating a heavy workload department.
- Must be skilled in solving problems with good workable solutions.
- Ability to work in a confined space and is limited in ability to leave the job site.
- Must be flexible regarding work schedule.
