 Summary:

 Metropolitan Mechanical Contractors (MMC) is looking for a motivated individual to bring their personality, attitude, passion for excellence, exceptional customer service and hard work to an evolving and growing Purchasing Team.  This job provides an independent person the opportunity to multitask and set priorities of work.

 Job Specifics:      

  • Work with the purchasing manager & buyer as required in all aspects of purchasing department duties and requirements.
  • Create and process purchase orders based on information received from field foremen, shops and project managers.
  • Support the Team with management of the two purchasing queues.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the purchasing logs.
  • Price material requests and make an analysis based on value; project spec requirements, price, availability, service, quality.
  • Track material returns from projects and follow-up on credits as required.
  • Aid with tag & hold tracking and close-out on projects.
  • Help shop leaders with inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Assist with monthly reporting as assigned by the purchasing manager.
  • Coordinate with foremen and project managers to resolve issues with deliveries to project sites and shops.
  • Help enforce purchasing processes and procedures across all MMC.
  • Along with the purchasing manager, update the estimating systems as defined and coordinated with the estimating staff.
  • Cover an increased workload during periods of PTO and other absence by members of the Team, as needed.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  •  Experience working for a mechanical contractor (plumbing, piping, HVAC) or mechanical industry wholesaler a plus but not required.
  • Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word required.
  • Effective, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under hurried and pressured conditions, prioritizing workload and maintaining flexibility and attitude.
