We are looking for a team-oriented, detailed and energetic Tool Room Associate – Fleet to join our team. This position provides support for the fleet vehicle program; assists all aspects of fleet maintenance and tracking. In addition, it supports tools and equipment: tool check in/out, tool repair and upkeep, procurement, shipping and receiving, buildings and grounds. The ideal candidate has tool room and/or warehouse experience, knowledge of tool usage, assembly and operations, the ability to learn fleet program management and the desire to grow their career and make an impact at Jamar.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Experience and knowledge of working in a tool/warehouse environment preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude in repairing tools – knowledge of tool usage, assembly and operations - is preferred.
  • Ability to regularly load and unload large tool crates with multiple sets of tools, heavy chains and field equipment (will be trained to identify tools by name, location and use).
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
  • Proficient with computers (data entry, email).
  • Must be 21 years of age, have a clean driving record, and ability to pass the required DOT physical.
  • Ability to work longer hours and/or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to drive a Forklift and become certified.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Fleet responsibilities:

  • Assist with vehicle repairs and scheduling, and new fleet purchases through ARI leasing.
  • Issue fuel card pin numbers, research and resolve field card concerns and issues.
  • Plan and upfit new and used vehicles; determine need for toolboxes, ladder racks, graphics, etc.
  • Work with manager to develop a system to reduce costs for fleet repairs; perform preventive safety checks, track and monitor tire, transmission and brake maintenance schedules per vehicle, etc.
  • Assist with launching GPS program for fleet; learn new program, assist with tracking, etc.
  • Maintain the vehicle accident tracking program.
  • Work with manager to accurately assign vehicles to staff and update tracking sheet.
  • Assist management in issuance and return of fleet vehicles as necessary.

Tool & Equipment Fulfillment:

  • Inspect and maintain incoming tools; assess the condition of tools, identify those as viable for repair and repair any defects or breakpoints. Thoroughly clean and return tools to inventory.
  • Work with manager regarding replacement needs, including returning damaged tools under warranty.
  • Fill customer requests/tool orders using lists as provided. Ensure all orders are accurate, complete and on time.
  • Deliver tools and equipment to job sites in a timely manner as needed.
  • Assist management in issuance and return of fleet vehicles as necessary.
  • Fill out Purchase Orders (PO log) and other paperwork accurately according to department/company standards.

Buildings and Grounds Maintenance:

  • Assist manager in ensuring the safety and security of the building and grounds at all times.
  • Respond to building maintenance requests; seasonal upkeep of parking lots, walkways, and building entrances, snow removal, garbage and recycling removal including any recycling or special receptacle needs.
  • Respond to internal requests for office; change lightbulbs, stock and store cleaning supplies, communicate with building vendors including cleaning staff to ensure supplies are available.

Shipping and Receiving:

  • Accept incoming freight. Notify appropriate department personnel and store materials appropriately.
  • Shipping to include packaging, using best practices.

Company Level Support

  • Provide driving/delivery support to business customers/ or projects, including tools, equipment, or product.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The environmental conditions for this position include climate controlled indoor activity to inclement outdoor extremes of cold, heat, dust, wind and various forms of precipitation. Exposure to a variety of noise and equipment vibration.
  • Position is often in a heavy manufacturing/industrial area and will require up to 95% of time on the shop floor.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in plant and/or customer environments.
