MAJOR GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work directly with the Controller on a variety of financial procedures, conducted in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Corporate Accountant will help manage general ledger reconciliations and assist with job cost reporting. This position will oversee electronic transactions to the bank (positive pay and ACH). This team member will ensure compliance with state and local tax and licensing requirements through renewals and new applications as we move into newer territories.

ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Prepare monthly close entries for subledgers and general ledger. Assist with the production of timely, accurate financial statements
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
  • Manage and prepare the confidential office payroll, including adjustments to earnings and deductions, submission of payroll reports, and remittance of payroll taxes.
  • Assist accounts payable function to ensure timely and accurate payments, including setups, bank uploads, and account reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with state and local licensing and certification requirements by filing for renewals, new applications, etc.
  • Prepare personal property, real estate, and sales/use tax returns. Manage fixed assets account, including recording new assets, retirements, post depreciation, and monthly balancing. Work closely with the manager of the TEAM Facility to track acquisition, sales, trade-ins and licensing of equipment and vehicles.
  • Assist in updating the GA&O budget, including quarterly projections as needed
  • Assist in preparation for year-end audit, including workpapers and schedules requested by outside audit firm.
  • Various other duties as assigned.

This individual is highly motivated to be a responsible steward of the Company’s assets.  The Corporate Accountant should have the capacity and conviction to manage the finances and assets of the Corporation professionally and honestly. This position requires a strong background in accounting and financial management. This person must have very good technical and organizational skills.

PREREQUISITES (i.e., Education, Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA designation and/or advanced degree in management or finance a plus.
  • Three to five years experience performing general ledger transactions in a large or mid-sized firm; construction industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Aptitude and experience using accounting software, data base and spreadsheet software
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide cross selection of individuals.
