Role Overview
The Human Resources Generalist will support the implementation of HR systems, processes and procedures throughout the organization. This position provides daily support to the Human Resources Department regarding employee relations, benefits coordination, payroll support, talent acquisition/recruiting support, candidate interview facilitation, hiring and onboarding, compensation analysis, worker’s compensation support, talent management support, and related objectives. This position routinely interacts with all internal employees and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Vice President of Human Resources.
This position is based in our Reno, NV office and will be working collaboratively to support HR needs across our US-based and Canadian teams. The Human Resources Generalist reports directly to the VP, Human Resources.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition and morale; and training and development.
- Assist VP HR in developing management tools and processes that help facilitate the Supervisor/Managers job such as position descriptions, orientation process, supervisor training, and wage comparison surveys.
- Facilitate rewarding relationships and collaborate with staff and other departments.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Facilitates new hire orientation and implementation of employee recognition programs.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Assist with benefits process, including data entry, fielding questions from employees, and open enrollment.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Assist with relocation and temporary housing placement for newly hired employees
- Prepare and compile administrative and legal documents required for the new hire process; forward documents to required personnel and maintain documents in appropriate files
- Compile and maintain confidential and sensitive information such as personnel files; ensure documents are current, complete and accurate.
- Track, maintain and analyze HR reports including pre-employment, employee headcount and turnover rates, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) statistics, and relocation reimbursements.
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Complete required reports and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Readily assist with special events, projects and activities.
- Assist with verifications of employment as needed.
- Assume day-to-day administrative functions of the HR department.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of HR experience, mining or industrial environment preferred.
- SHRM-CP or PHR a plus
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel, and familiarity with HRIS programs.
