CAD Drafter Internship

The AutoCAD drafter prepares drawings of distribution and transmission system piping, pressure regulating and measurement facilities for new business, relocation, replacement, and franchise projects and performs or assists with land surveys.

As an AutoCAD drafter intern, your key responsibilities will be to provide support to team members under direct supervision and to take direction and execute assignments in a timely fashion.  Our goal is to provide opportunity to observe as many processes and projects as possible throughout internship.

General Job Duties:

  • Prepare engineering and construction drawings on the field completion of distribution and transmission system piping, pressure regulating and measurement facilities utilizing Company provided drawings
  • Perform or assist with routine land survey assignments
  • Use and know the filing systems for all graphic records, as-built drawings, and other related engineering information
  • Use company design and material standards in the preparation of company facilities
  • Use the Work Management System (WMS) in conjunction with routing project assignments
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner
  • Promote good public relations
  • Work cooperatively with those contacted in the course of work
  • Perform all work in accordance with applicable sections of Company Operations Manual
  • Perform basic math calculations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 Qualifications:

  • Must have at least one year of undergraduate studies in related curriculum.    
  • Must be willing to accept an internship opportunity in one of our available locations across the United States   
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD is required, proficiency in Bluebeam a plus
  • Time management; prioritizing work and documenting tasks
  • Must be able to wear and use all personal protective safety equipment as conditions dictate
  • Ability to travel as needed over the course of the internship
  • Must maintain professional interaction, appearances, and communication within all levels of the organization
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures and conditions
