GIS Technician Internship

As a GIS Technician intern, your key responsibilities will be to provide field and administrative support to team members under direct supervision and execute assigned tasks in a timely fashion.  This position will also include assisting in Data Cleanup.  Our goal is to provide opportunity to observe as many processes and projects as possible throughout internship. 

What Do You Offer Us?

  • Assist with customer work order request for demand point assignments and customers close out packages
  • Ability to work efficiently with ESRI schemas
  • Must have a working knowledge of coordinate systems and projections
  • Assist with compiling geographic information in the form of satellite images, geographical surveys, and aerial photographs
  • Researching and verifying geographic data
  • Entering new data into the GIS database
  • Assist with drawing maps using advanced computer software
  • Assist with ensuring maps are annotated and compiled with correct information
  • Assist with compiling reports using all available GIS and GPS data sources
  • Assist with maintaining the GIS database and troubleshooting data issues
  • Other duties as assigned

What is Required?

  • Must have strong Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Knowledge of CAD preferred
  • Proficiency in software including ESRI, ArcMAP, ArcGIS PRO, or QGIS
  • Understanding of Integrated GPS and GIS principals
  • Advanced computer programming and data analysis skills
  • Knowledge of modern cartographic standards and principles
  • Statistical, mathematical, and methodology skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to travel when required
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods with repeated lifting (Up to 50 lbs.), kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching
  • Must be willing to accept an internship opportunity in one of our available locations across the United States
