Full-time/hourly: $22 - $31.25 DOE

General Duties/Description:

The Research Coordinator will play an integral role in ongoing, multicenter research studies on Parkinson’s disease with the Zabetian research group based at the Seattle VA Medical Center.  This individual will coordinate subject screening and recruitment, collection of clinical information, procurement of biological specimens, medical records review, and data coding/entry. Travel offsite may be required periodically. 

Under minimal supervision, this individual will:

  • Screen subjects for eligibility criteria
  • Obtain informed consent from study participants
  • Collect clinical information from interviews with study participants
  • Conduct neuropsychological testing and gait assessment
  • Enter clinical information and test results into database
  • Perform venipuncture and assist lumbar puncture
  • Process biospecimen
  • Schedule visits for study participants
  • Coordinate projects with other research groups
  • Maintain contact with physicians and community organizations for recruitment
  • Manage and complete IRB and other administrative study forms
  • Facilitate study site visits and ensure all required documentation is available for auditors and monitors
  • Ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within required time frames to meet research objectives

Requirement: Four years of college-level course work in relevant academic areas and previous Research Assistant/Coordinator experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with the geriatric population
  • Experience working with dementia and/or decision impaired subjects
  • Fundamental understanding of Parkinson’s disease
  • Ability to work independently, strong interpersonal skills
