Social Media/Marketing Intern

Commonwealth Electric Company of the Midwest is looking for a high-spirited, creative Social Media Intern to assist our growing in-house marketing department! This paid internship will work directly with our two Marketing Coordinators to develop and share social media content, as well as occasionally assist with various marketing-related tasks. This role will require a great deal of communication with fellow Commonwealth Electric employees, so it is important that you are comfortable making phone calls to gather photos and information for social media content.

Commonwealth Electric Company of the Midwest is an employee-owned, full service electrical and low voltage contractor with our corporate office being in Lincoln, Nebraska. Our marketing department exists to highlight company achievements, build brand awareness, and supply our employees with marketing materials.

Responsibilities Include

  • Assist in generating, editing, scheduling, publishing and sharing engaging content weekly on various social media platforms
  • Ensure brand consistency in all marketing and social media messages
  • Collaborate with Marketing Coordinators on various marketing projects, which may include graphic design, website content creation, internal and external communications, and photography (as assigned)
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on various company events to create social media content
  • May need to travel to other branch locations or job sites with the Marketing Coordinators to collect materials and content

Desired Skills

  • All school years accepted, preferably majoring in marketing, advertising, new media or other related majors
  • Experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter
  • Strong copywriting abilities for scripting captions
  • Must be comfortable interacting with all levels within the organization, as well as outside contacts, via email and phone
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Illustrator
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude, ability to work independently, and meet deadlines

Schedule

This internship is for the summer and fall. We are extremely willing to work with your time and schedule, preferably working 10-20 hours between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday; position may be extended to future semesters.
