Data Specialist Overview

Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and presenting vehicle and construction equipment data in support of the enterprise-wide fleet acquisition, operation, and maintenance programs.

Data Specialist Responsibilities

  • Ensure Equipment Maintenance Division system-of-record data integrity through development and monitoring of manual and automated input processes and data auditing
  • Calculate and publish equipment related KPIs
  • Subject matter expert on fuel management hardware functionality – to include interfacing with vendor and fuel management software to track fuel utilization to point of consumption
  • Develop and maintain OTR vehicle mileage logs and maintain all DOT / FMCSA regulatory compliance requirements
  • Develop and implement process flow diagrams, process guides, work instructions, single point lesson plans, and supporting action plans for reoccurring daily responsibilities

Data Specialist Requirements

  • High school diploma minimum – Bachelor’s Science in Business, Business Economics, Business Information and Technology, Industrial (I/O) Psychology, Math, Statistics, or Finance preferred
  • Experience in training and/or development a plus
  • Analytical / fact-based and metric-driven decision maker with ability to analyze and translate high volumes of information into compelling visual stories
  • Training in industry recognized (ASQ, AME, SME) lean certification a plus
  • Must present considerable persuasiveness, enthusiasm, and persistence
  • Communicate with personnel with varying level of education and experience
  • Strong planning, organization and time management skills

 Work Conditions/ Physical Requirements

The following environmental/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position.

  • 90% office environment; 10% travel between construction crews and projects from Memphis Metro area to Northern MS
  • Work may entail visits to multiple sites in which incumbent could be exposed to loud noise, dust, odor and weather elements
