Position Overview

The CDL Class A Driver – Asphalt Operations supports asphalt crews by transporting materials and equipment safely and efficiently between plants, yards, and job sites. This role is primarily focused on operating dump trucks, water trucks, and other equipment needed for asphalt operations, with additional support provided to field crews as needed.

This position is ideal for an experienced CDL Class A driver who values consistency, safety, and being a reliable part of a paving operation.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Transportation

  • Safely operate a variety of Class A commercial vehicles in support of asphalt operations
  • Driving may include tractors trailers, trailers, dump trucks, tank trucks, flatbeds, drop decks, water trucks and others as needed for operations
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT regulations
  • Load and unload materials while verifying quantities and accuracy
  • Secure loads properly and follow all safety and operating procedures

Documentation & Communication

  • Complete daily paperwork and maintain accurate scale tickets
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, plant personnel, and field crews
  • Report delays, equipment issues, or jobsite concerns as they arise

Operations & Jobsite Support

  • Operate equipment and assist with labor on the jobsite as needed
  • Maintain punctuality and readiness for daily assignments
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and jobsite environments

Skills & Qualifications

  • CDL Class A license required
  • Two (2) or more years of CDL A driving experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a relatively clean motor vehicle record
    • Applicants with drug or alcohol driving offenses in the last five years will not be considered
    • Other violations evaluated per insurance standards
  • Ability to work 40–60 hours per week, including Saturdays
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
  • Asphalt or construction experience preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
