We are seeking qualified candidates for a Project Engineer - VDC position. This role will be responsible for creating, managing, and coordinating the BIM and deliverables for a project.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of VDC experience or equivalent in the commercial design and construction industry
- Self-starter and efficient at working both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Detail-oriented and able to prioritize to meet deadlines
- Proficiency using Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and construction management software
- Experience using document management platforms such as CMiC Field, PlanGrid and Bluebeam
- Very strong problem-solving, mathematical, and written/verbal communication skills
- Detailed knowledge of current construction practices, methodologies, project delivery methods and documentation
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering
- Experience with programming tools such as Dynamo and Grasshopper
- Experience creating 3D virtual mockups
- Experience with reality capture equipment, software and the processes to produce 3D point clouds, meshes and topographies
- Experience producing 4D/5D Phasing animations using Fuzor, Synchro Pro or similar software
- Strong desire to create, seek out and learn new processes to advance VDC workflows
Office and Travel:
- Primarily work out of corporate office in Roseville, MN. Must be willing to travel to project jobsites. Some project travel may require multiple overnight stays.
Responsibilities and Tasks: The successful candidate will take on the following responsibilities. Continued growth and expansion of these responsibilities can lead to career growth in project management, estimating or field leadership roles.
- Managing distribution of design models with construction team
- Manage the sharing of coordination models (i.e. structural steel, bar joist, misc metals, cold-formed & light gauge steel framing, etc. fabrication models)
- Produce material quantity takeoffs from 3D models to inform self-perform estimating efforts
- Use BIM to review questions/issues raised by project partners and to identify gaps in design documents
- 3D modeling of elements not included by design team, or modeled incorrectly, for coordination purposes
- Perform Construction Document reviews for clarifications, constructability, and scope/quantity changes
- Identify and submit RFIs necessary to bring clarification to assigned scope of work
- Work closely with Superintendents and Foreman to review/model constructability issues for resolution
- Participate in the creation/modification/application of company BIM content and standards of work
- Ensure all aspects of the BIM Execution Plan for self-perform work are completed
- Develop and manage models for Site Logistics, 4D phase planning and virtual mock-ups as required by the project team
- Manage and facilitate 3D coordination and clash detection with design disciplines, subcontractors and fabricators
- Assist project teams by utilizing BIM for visualization, constructability reviews and coordination
- Train other project team members as needed on the use of VDC deliverables and BIM related tools
- Coordinate BIM-related close out deliverables
- Provide support to marketing pursuit teams in the form of model visuals
