About This Position

In this position, you are responsible for managing the delivery of preconstruction services for projects. You will be tasked with leading projects through the preconstruction phase, while maintaining the project’s desired result.

In this role you will...

  • Prepare bid submissions to ensure that all scopes of work are accounted for in the estimate. Verify that all bid documents are included in the estimate.
  • Take responsibility of project from decision to pursue through contract award.
  • Create conceptual budgets based on historical data as needed
  • Produce scopes of work to assist with the creation of the subcontracts
  • Assist in the development of bid strategies for projects
  • Perform select quantity take-off, pricing, site visits, and pre-bid meetings
  • Consult with team members during the pre-bid phase in order to remain current on activities. Coordinate with departments to study and monitor plans thoroughly prior to submission of proposal, update estimating of design deficiencies, alternates, staffing and equipment requirements.
  • Solicit subcontractors and suppliers for proposal prior to proposal submission time.
  • Prepare correspondence with Owner, Architect, Engineers, Subcontractors, Suppliers, etc. Examples of referenced correspondence include, but not confined to the following items: Schedule of Values, project schedule, memos, request for information transmittals and submittals.
  • Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotations, evaluate their scope and appraise any deficiencies (i.e., exclusions, incomplete scopes, etc.) as compared with like quotations and estimate requirements

As the ideal candidate you...

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field. Degrees in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering are a plus.
  • Have previous construction project management experience with a proven project history in relation to quality, schedule, budget, and safety.
  • Have the ability to plan, lead, organize and communicate with customers.
  • Can relocate to the project site if required and work flexible hours, average of 50+ hours per week.
  • Have working knowledge of MS Office, MS Outlook and Internet.
  • Capability to successfully support the estimating and bidding process from start to finish to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Meeting established goals while demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness to ensure quality of work.
  • Effectively managing the staff through ensuring appropriate staffing, providing formal and informal evaluations/feedback, addressing employee issues when warranted and providing appropriate training and mentoring.
  • Being able to handle rapidly changing priorities to accomplish project goals.
