SELF-PERFORM ESTIMATOR

McGough is seeking an induvial with experience in estimating concrete and/or masonry work.  This person will focus on self-perform components of our projects and provide leadership and expertise in planning, estimating, presenting, and securing concrete and masonry scopes of work.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Four-year degree in Construction Engineering or Construction Management
  • 5-8+ years of construction and estimating experience
  • Solid understanding of self-perform construction, processes, systems and risk
  • Experience in estimating labor, material, equipment, general conditions, and risk
  • Proficient computer application skills (Excel, Word, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organization and time management skills
  • Thorough and detail-oriented
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task within time constraints
  • Self-starter and motivated with minimal supervision

Preferred:

  • Professional designation (e.g., CPE, LEED AP, DBIA, CPC, etc.)
  • Understanding and previous use of computer applications such as Revit, Tekla, and Trimble Connect
  • Understanding and previous use of estimating and scheduling software such as P6, CostX, BlueBeam, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving productive relationships with project partners, subcontractors and vendors

Office and Travel:

Office: Role is based out of our Corporate office in Roseville, MN.  Requires visiting sites for walk throughs or on a regular basis during construction.

Travel: Periodic overnight travel required

Responsibilities and Tasks:

The primary role of the Self Perform Estimator includes the following essential functions:

  • Participate in preconstruction efforts of concrete and masonry work.
  • Read and interpret project specifications and plans to prepare detailed, comprehensive, and accurate quantity surveys.
  • Preform detailed quantity take-offs
  • Prepare project estimates including self-performed work, subcontracted work, and general requirements.
  • Compile estimates and aligning deliverables for different stages of project development such as conceptual estimating through construction documents in a negotiated or bid environment.
  • Understand timelines and applicable project deadlines.
  • Maintain current information on products, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Subcontractor/supplier bid solicitation and coordination.
  • Provide input to the project team for the project schedule and insights on possible project risks and rewards.
  • Utilize and maintain historical productions and costs.
  • Embodies great team culture through humility, people smarts and a hunger to make the team better.

Position involves sitting for extended periods of time while working at a computer terminal.  Employee must be able to communicate effectively in a typical office environment with a standard level of office noise.  Occasional standing, bending, walking, and lifting is also required.

Employee will be required to visit construction jobsites which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.  In addition, employee must be able to move around prospective or current project sites.  This includes climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, walking long distances and climbing stairs.
