Your role at GEI.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Execute technical projects and assignments in coordination with project managers and support staff.
  • Prepare detailed written memoranda and reports on technical assignments and present technical information to peers and clients;
  • Prepare design documents including drawings, technical specifications, basis of design documents, bid documents and project schedules.
  • Self-motivated. The candidate will have the confidence and motivation to independently research, determine and calculate answers that lead to independent decisions on various work/client related issues. The candidate is not necessarily expected to act as the Engineer of Record on projects but will interact and report to engineers who act in that capacity.
  • Become competent in H/H modeling and will to obtain construction oversight/field engineering experience.
  • Learn HEC-RAS (both 1D and 2D versions), and FLOW3D software.
  • The candidate will have working knowledge or be willing to learn GIS tools, including spatial analysis tools and the ability to create, analyze and convert topographic and bathymetric surfaces within and export out of GIS.
  • CAD experience. The candidate will have experience or willing to learn with AutoCAD and Civil 3D software, with some ability to analyze/convert surfaces, particularly to support H/H modeling program demands.
  • Candidate will have experience in, or be willing to learn:
    • the planning and design of dams,
    • feasibility and economic studies of hydroelectric projects,
    • spillway design and analysis
    • inlet and outlet works design
    • analysis of conduit and open channel flow
    • probable maximum flood (PMF) studies
    • 1D and 2D hydraulic computer modeling

Minimum Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of professional experience demonstrating skills mentioned above;
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources related field, M.S. considered a plus.
  • Registered Colorado Professional Engineer or ability to obtain in three (3) years to five (5) years.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and meet deadlines.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel on temporary work assignments. 20-40% travel is possible.
  • Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight and work in inclement conditions.
