POSITION DESCRIPTION
The position of Slurry/Pneumatic Driver will be tasked with performing multiple plant duties in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a safety first attitude. This position requires management resources in adherence with all company standards, policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, TCEQ etc. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of bulk wet and or dry cement materials. Drivers will deliver materials to locations both residential and commercial including internal silos to support Ready Mix, Stabilized and Slurry Plants.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivery:
- Thorough operational knowledge and skills of tank trailer and related equipment to be operated.
- Can operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Must keep time and material records.
- Must follow verbal and written instruction.
- Must have maneuvering and backing skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively on the radio system.
- Connect and disconnect to trailers in a safe and efficient manner.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspections and reports vehicle condition at the beginning and the end of each shift.
- Checks all vehicle fluid levels daily and adds fluids as necessary.
- Fuels vehicle as necessary.
- Maintains vehicle cleanliness throughout the day.
- Occasionally uses chipping hammer to remove excess concrete build up.
- Performs minor repairs and assists mechanics in vehicle repairs.
Safety:
- Comply with safety rules and wear personal protective equipment.
- Report all unsafe conditions promptly.
- Offer suggestions for accident prevention.
- Serve on Safety Committees as requested.
Other:
- Takes customer order changes in the field and reports same to dispatch.
- Maintains Driver’s Daily Logs.
- Performs other duties as instructed by supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Educational requirement can be waived in lieu of work experience.). Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and Tanker Endorsement, or be able to obtain required endorsements. Meet minimum MVR requirements. Ability to provide high standards of customer service. Ability to clean all areas on the vehicle, climb ladder to inspect loads. Satisfactory work attendance record.
Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products and some ability to adapt to other computer software.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Consists of truck cabin, office setting and on-site at plant and jobsites. Office environment will include suitable work areas and standard office equipment. On site work consists of activities which include navigating heights, machinery and exposure to elements such as dust, changes in temperature and weather. Required safety equipment will be issued and policies and procedures focused on safety will apply.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and sit for long periods of time. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing at times. The employee must consistently lift and carry items up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 60 pounds. Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. May occasionally deal with heights. Must be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicable. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees and managers. Manual Dexterity. Effective conflict resolution abilities. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, write and do mathematics.
