HEI Civil is a full-service civil construction company. We offer a full range of construction services, including heavy civil highway construction, commercial, residential, oil field, site development, dams and reservoirs, parks, and golf courses.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bridge Superintendent with experience in civil construction to join our team.

Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Bridge Superintendent is to manage and oversee our structural concrete crews across the Denver metro area. Qualified candidates will have an in depth understanding of the construction industry, contract documents, and plans. Qualified individuals will also have excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Bridge Superintendent include, but are not limited to:

1.      Safety –
  1. Conduct daily safety meetings with the crew
  2. Ensure that all tasks are done in a safe and efficient manner
  3. Require adherence to OSHA regulations as well as HEI safety policy
  4. Provide the employees with the proper safety equipment for the task being performed
  5. Prioritize safety above all else by complying with OSHA and environmental safety standards
2.      Planning –
  1. Prepare and plan labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors at least 3 days ahead of time
  2. Weekly email to Project Manager, General Superintendent, Financial Officer, and Operations Manager with a two week look ahead of your project regarding labor, equipment, materials, subs, permits, and inspections needed
  3. Assist with projections and buy into in with BID or identify concerns – take pride beating budget
  4. Understand the contract and job specifications, and how the company gets paid
3.      Management of Site –
  1. HEI Civil Crew
    1. Supervise and lead all aspects of a project
    2. Communicate with employees, managers, subs, HR, and all other team members
    3. Schedule and ensure that materials, equipment, and subcontractors are lined out to maximize production and to schedule
    4. Set daily production goals for your crew
    5. Communicate to the crew what the final product is
    6. Urgency – if the job is not going in the right direction, step in and get it back on Communicate, communicate, communicate any problem
    7. Communicate and coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor any equipment problem or repair needed
    8. Notify General Superintendent, Field Operations Manager and PM when a problem affecting budget is identified
    9. Work independently, with fellow supervisors, and alongside crew members
    10. Contribute knowledge and ideas to increase productivity
    11. Lead and mentor all employees to the best of your ability
  1. General Contractor –
    1. Dictate and facilitate project sequence and schedule – become the general even if we are the subcontractor
    2. Identify additional scope items and productions impacts
4.      Heavy Job –
  1. Track costs daily, by utilizing the job analysis and work plan
  2. Complete daily job site inspections and JHAs
  3. Input employees’ hours
  4. Attach a minimum of 3 pictures every day of work performed and
  5. Ensure Office personnel and Project Managers are getting the right information in a timely manner.
5.      Client Relations –
  1. Manage Client with professionalism, courtesy, and
  2. Attend meetings with client when
  3. Communicate with General Contractor and HEI personnel
  4. Act like every dollar is coming out of your pocket – Treat the company like it is
6.      Project Documentation –
  1. Meet with Project Manager every week
    1. Discuss projections with PM
    2. Percentage completed on each phase
    3. Over or under budget on each phase code
    4. Buy in and execute
  1. Procure test reports, E., compaction, clear water, etc.
  2. Procure survey cut sheets
  3. Procure inspection signoffs
  4. Complete closeout checklists
  5. Accident/Incident reporting – Safety compliance – Locates, toolbox talks, trench logs, etc.
  6. All invoice and paperwork to be turned in not later than O.D. Monday
  7. Verify quantities with General Contractor and subcontractors daily as they sign our form
7.      Deadlines –
  1. Take pride in meeting all deadlines and schedules
    1. Projections
    2. Return phone calls and emails
    3. Productions
    4. Project schedules
  1. Be realistic; don’t take on so much responsibility that will make you
  2. Ask for Your failure is our failure.
  3. Extra work order tickets and recap tickets must be signed
8.      Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the heavy civil construction industry
  • 5+ years of supervisory background (structural concrete in specific or closely related)
  • Understanding of construction principles and procedures
  • General knowledge of bridge construction is required
  • Knowledge of all OSHA and safety requirements
  • 10–30-hour OSHA training (preferred)
  • Ability to travel within the State of Colorado
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Comfortable working in high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations

 

Job Type: Exempt, Full-time

Salary: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 Based on Experience
