Summary:
As an Electrical Buyer you will be one of the primary contacts for communications with vendors and manufacturers. You will be responsible to plan, direct, and coordinate all activities involving procurement of equipment, products, and materials, and will work closely with engineering, estimators, project management, and the field to coordinate jobsite deliveries. This position is a mid-level buyer position.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Review purchase requests to ensure they have sufficient and accurate information to place and order with the supplier
- Mentor Jr Buyers to evolve and grow
- Issue purchase orders to vendors ensuring accuracy and PO documentation completeness
- Provide for timely purchase and delivery of quality materials, equipment, and services at the lowest total cost to the company or project
- Prepare and send out quotes for bid and review spreadsheet analysis of bid results before awarding purchase orders to suppliers and subcontractors
- Ensure ongoing cost savings through negotiations with suppliers, value analysis and combining requirements to take advantage of volume discounts where appropriate
- Assist the estimating function in providing cost information for the bidding process
- Contact suppliers for adjustments involving replacement or return of material or equipment due to non-conformance, defect, cancellation of order or price variation.
- Assist Accounts Payable in resolving invoice and delivery discrepancies associated with purchase orders for materials, equipment, and services
- Participate in the facilitation of purchasing policies, procedures, and systems
Relationships:
- Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the crafts:
- Including shop and field craft personnel; and supervision coworkers
- Maintain proactive and positive relationships with:
- Customer representatives
- Vendors, Suppliers and Subcontractors
- Safety, CAD/BIM, Accounting, and IT

What You Need To Be Part Of Our All-Star Team:
Education/Experience:
- BS or BA degree with emphasis on Supply Chain, Business or other applicable degree
- 5+ years of purchasing experience, preferably electrical industry experience
- Experience with an automated purchasing system
- Experience sourcing & purchasing electrical commodities as related to construction projects in both industrial and commercial industries
- Knowledge of procurement policies, procedures, and best practices
- Knowledge of purchasing and contract laws, and regulations
- Broad purchasing knowledge of electrical industry, equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of e-mail, spreadsheet, and word processing software programs
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and other industry standard programs
